FORMER MP Margaret Moran is not fit to stand trial accused of fiddling Parliamentary expenses because she is ‘depressed and suicidal’, a court has heard. The 56-year-old – who owns a big estate near Orgiva – is suffering from extreme anxiety and had tried to harm herself because of abandonment by the Labour Party and shame over her ruined career, according to consultant forensic psychiatrist Philip Joseph. Dr Joseph added that she also harboured feelings of guilt, hopelessness, shame, worthlessness and ‘the feeling she is being punished for past mistakes for incidents in her childhood and adolescence.’ Moran faces 15 charges of false accounting and six of using a false instrument, which relate to her allegedly submitting forged invoices, between November 2004 and August 2008. The former Luton South MP had previously failed in a bid to sue the Olive Press after we revealed she had used official House of Commons notepaper to order neighbours off her land.
