The Spanish holiday renaissance is well and truly on with nearly every industry commentator joining the masses of holidaymakers, voting with their feet, in deciding that this year's hot holiday destination is once again Spain.
To meet this surge in demand for flights to Spain, Jet2.com, the leading leisure airline with friendly low fares, are putting on additional services to the popular destinations of Alicante and Malaga.
Both of these destinations have long been in the top three of the most searched for flights despite the global recession curtailing many holidaymakers' dreams. However, in 2010 they were overtaken by the Canary Island of Tenerife and then by Bodrum in Turkey.
Now with seven additional routes announced from Spain in 2011 by Jet2.com, it would appear both are back in favour.
Why Are Costa Blanca and the Costa Del Sol So Popular?
Malaga and Alicante are the gateways to the Costa Del Sol and Costa Blanca respectively, which is why the two resorts feature so prominently on the list of popular flight destinations.
The Costa Del Sol offers a plethora of holiday options designed to suit all tastes and moods. One such holiday choice that is likely to prove popular again this year is a golfing holiday in the Costa Del Sol.
The area is nicknamed the Costa Del Golf because of the array and wealth of golf courses available. Many of these have been sensitively built into the picturesque surroundings to add a touch of luxury to a round of eighteen.
On the other end of the spectrum and over in Costa Blanca, holidays are defined by the beaches and nightlife. This isn't to say you won't find the same in the Costa Del Sol.
However, the golden soft sand beaches, luxury lounge bars with open fronts and lively night time parties are what drag the rich and famous to mingle amongst everyone else on holiday in the Costa Blanca.
People Need a Holiday This Year
At the heart of this increase in cheap flights to Spain is a burgeoning desire from Brits to enjoy a much needed break in the sun following a couple of difficult years for most people. A Jet2.com statement confirmed these sentiments, claiming that Brits “will want to continue going on holiday after two very difficult years. They may postpone getting a new car, but they do not sacrifice holidays.”
Jet2.com offer a number of cheap flights to Spain and there is even more choice with the announcement of these additional services in 2011.
